Since this is a free day i am just going to write about my experience on Blurb Book. Last night i was playing around on there and found out a lot of things. You can edit everything on there, change the layout, change the page color, make backgrounds for each page. Also you can put borders around you writing and change the color on that to. You can import pictures that you have taken, made, painted, drawn or edited on there where it says to put pictures.
I really like the whole Blurb Book idea. I never knew i was capable of writing a book. This is a very needing experience that is very good for people who would like to go into the publishing business. Or for people who just like writing.

Now that i am starting my Blurb Book the things that i am learning are that it is not that easy to write a children's book or a folk tale. The people who made these up or wrote these have very good imaginations and i give them their props. I thought before that it was nothing to it. Now i know there are many steps to write a children's book, or at least a successful one.
I think i have came a long way from when we started. I say this because when we first started i was very excited about everything and being on time with everything and did all my work. i had my story all together and ready to write out and make my book then. But as we got further in the process i started falling off and was not o time with the blogs and was not doing what i was supposed to. Now i am back on track and have different thought and more creative ideas about what i want to do with my story and what is going to be in it. If anyone has any ideas about more drama that i can put in my story please comment..Thanks!

My Story sounds really good and flowing. I sort of altered the story and made changes to fit more and make it more interesting to children. My story also made since, this is because unlike any other things we have had in the past i have thought a lot about my story. i thought more about this because i really like making up story for children and being very creative and getting to use my mind for children's enjoyment.
I think that i still need to make more changes and get more of my story done. The changes i think i should make is make a climax and more adventure and mystery to it. I want to make changes like that because my story is sort of dull and goes on and on with out no type of excitement.

i have not thought much about my climax and when it should happen. But know i think is the time where we are supposed to establish all of that. I have two points in my story that can be labeled as the climax of the story.
My story could fit in either of the categories of 6. Relationships made or mended or finally discarded. Or 7. Loyalty Rewarded or punished.
The Relationships made or mended or finally discarded climax will fit in sort of to the end when he turns into a Prince at the Fiesta. This is when a relationship begins because they fall in love and live happily ever after as Prince and Princess.
Also what could go with that is that her friends start getting jealous because she is spending so much time with the puppy not paying them no mind.
The Loyalty Rewarded or Punished climax is when the puppy tells her that their is a reason for why he is having her do these things, also they become closer and she starts having fun and since he can talk she starts to like him a little even though that is weird,

I really do not understand this blog because i do not know what type of social responsibility my characters are supposed to have. But i am going to try my hardest.
I think my main characters social responsibility was to right away keep her promise that she made to the puppy instead of just thinking about herself, but in the end she did right. Her Social responsibility was noticeable with what she was supposed to do but her first instinct did not do that.
The Puppies social responsibility was just to wait for someone to give him a deal so his spell could be broken and to find a girl to call his princess, And this is exactly what he did. He did all he could to make sure his responsibility was fulfilled.

I think the theme of my story is Never underestimate something because you will never know what happens. I think this because the girl did not want to help the talking puppy at first she was just worried about getting her ring back because it meant so much to her. Then since the puppy kept following her and she took the advice from her best friends she did what the puppy wanted.
I tried to make my theme easy for kids to understand and hopefully my story is easy for children to understand. I will use the pictures to help that aspect of the story more.

The opening sentence in my story is going to be " Habia una vez there was a muy bonita girl named Melisenda. I chose this as my opening sentence because it introduces the main character right away. I also chose this as my opening sentence because it starts of letting you know what type of culture my story is in and that it is a bilingual book.
The illustration i am going to use for the first page is just a pretty picture of the main character "Melisenda". This way the readers and have a visual of her as soon as the book starts. She is probably going to be at school in a hallway maybe to tell that she is still school.

Like many others i have not given much thought about my illustration. But for a fact i want my illustrations drawn. I do not know if i am going to draw them myself or have someone else so them. I want my picture to have a realistic but cartoon effect to them. To enhance my photos i will most likely use Picnik because i edit most of my pictures on there and i like the quality it has.
I want to have a cartoon-ish look to my pictures because this is a childrens book and cartoons are more appealing to children. That is another reason why i want to use a lot of color. Pictures i have in mind on the top of my head is the Mexican girl, her being popular in school(maybe walking down the hall or something), her quinceñera ring, the puppy, her walking in the park, the fiesta, her and her bestfriends, her dropping her ring in the puddle of mud, her and the dog taking, her taking care of the dog. That is all i know so far if you have any suggestions please comment..! Thanks..!

Something i think is missing from my cultural pastiche is probably a climax. I say this because my story really does not have a rising part or action in it. The reason why it does not have one is because i did not know where to put it or how to go about making one up. This is such a problem because i do not really know where the climax of the original story of "The Frog Prince" climax is.
I think the climax in the original story is maybe when she dropped her ball in the pond. Or when the frog turned into a Prince. If someone has read the story "The Frog Prince" before please help me out...! Please and Thank You..!

I think i did not do that well on my Petcha Kutcha. I think i could have done a whole lot better, because i know i am capable of doing so. The things i did wrong was that i was not prepared. Not trying to make excuses but i did not have a laptop for the longest. Also i had just got done with the pictures to my Petcha Kutcha so i did not have time to get my speech part together.
Something i could have done better was practice and stop waiting until the last minute to get my work done, when i knew since we have started the project that i had to do that. Next time, or the next thing that we do i will be better prepared and know what i need to talk about. Another thing i did wrong was depend on other people to ask questions instead of saying "do anybody have any questions". That was i biggest downfall.
The things i did do well was my pictures. I know that is bad and i should have more things i did good in but personally for my standards and what i know i am capable of i know my entire project could have been great, and i could have had a perfect score ( 150 ). I did have a good voice and sort of remembered my story. That was because that is something i prepared for, i read that story thoroughly about four times so i could have my facts together for my Fairy Tale story.

My Story takes four days and this is how it goes:
Day One - The main character finds her boyfriend at a restaurant with another girl and they break up, she cries to her two best friends that night.
Day Two - She gets up early to take a walk and get what happened the night before out her mind and drops her ring in the mud. A puppy sitting near by offers to get it for her if she feed him, loves him, takes care of him and takes him to an authentic Mexican fiesta. She agrees and starts to do these things.
Day Three - She takes her new puppy to her best friends house and tell them the story of how she found him and what she needs to do. They start to help her.
Day Four - This day goes by smoothly because they just take the puppy to get groomed and get him toys and things like that. This is the night of the Fiesta. She brings him here and at 12 o`clock the puppy turns in to a Prince and tells her that a spell was cast on him, and that if a girl feeds him, loves him, takes care of him and takes him to an authentic Mexican fiesta he will turn back into his normal self, and she will become his girlfriend/ princess and they will live happily ever after.
This is how my story goes without the little things in there, the thing that will connect each day is her happiness level will get better, and she becomes more happy and into life.

I think the message of my folktale is to honor your promises and to not judge a book by it's cover. I think that is this because if the main character did not honor her promise she would not have found the perfect boyfriend, which happened to be a Prince. My story is very serious on promises and keeping them. Also because she could have just ran away from the puppy when she seen it talking but she did not, she helped him.
Because my cultural pastiche in in modern times. It is the same as the folktales meaning but has more in depth. I say this because when people see Mexicans they think bad things sometimes. They may think of them as gang bangers, or workers, similar to how they think of black people. But many Mexicans are just like all of use, especially the ones who are living well, and are middle class people like everyone else. That is the main reason why in my story the main character did not abandon the talking puppy.
" Honor Your Promises, A Promise is a Debt. "

My story is a Fairy Tale. I think that it is this because it has magical objects, not creatures. But this still classifies it is a Fairy Tale, the things that are magical objects are her ring, the puppy and twelve o`clock. Another reason why this is a Fairytale because they main chararcters live happily ever after with eachother. This story is also a serious type story and one kids can learn from.
My folktale crosses into the Mexican Culture. Because of the location of the story, the chracter names, the big festival at the end when the puppy turns into a Prince/ Perfect Boyfriend. Also because they are speaking Spanish in some of the story to more enhance they Mexican Culture. My culture is more of a Mexican-American Type culture because they speak both languages and live in the United States. The importance of identifiying the type of folk tale so the reader will unerstand the type of story the are reading, also so your story can make sence and not jump from creatures to mishaps all in one sence without making yoursekf clear. The type of message my story is trying to tell is that, do not judge a book by it's cover. Also love can be found anywhere.

In my original story "The Frog Prince" they did not use numbers. In the revised version i am going to use the number three. There is going to be three girls. The Main Character and her two best friends. The two best friends are not that important in the story, they are just to represent the number three.Another thing used in the number three is the number of nights the puppy stays with the main character. Those are about the only things in the story that has three in it.
I chose the number three because it is the most common number that is used in folk tales or fairy tales. I wanted to use more things that require the number three in it. If anyone has any suggestions please comment...!

I like the whole blogging way better than writing a paper because for one it is way more fun. Writing on this blog makes me feel like i am in college. It is a quicker way to do what you need and you stay in touch which your topic because you have to do it everyday. It is also better than writing a paper because you do not have to have to write a whole paper then have to print it. Then if you forget to print you do not get your points even though you took your time doing your work.
Also I like this better because we have topic each do to expand our thinking so we can have better papers and stories. I think we should do all of our research papers and any other type of paper like this. I also think most teenager would prefer this because our generation is more familiar with technology and how to operate it. This way of doing things has made me more interested in research.

In my story there will not be many magical items but there will be some, such as:
Her Ring - It is magic because when she finally finds true love, she will live happily ever after with him.
Perfect Boyfriend/Prince/Puppy - He is magical to her because ever since she has found him and has been taking care of him her and her two best friends have been having good luck. So as long as she is with him and loves and and do as he pleases good things will come to her, as opposed to before she found the puppy.
And at twelve o clock at night when she is at the festival the puppy magically turns into a handsome prince who is the perfect boyfriend for her

I chose this picture because this represents what my character, Melisenda wants out of her life, some one she can call her own. Someone to love and cherish her as she will do them. This picture shows that the couple is happy with there relationship and loves each other. This relates to my story because she has never found someone in her life to be like that with.
I this picture I see a couple on the beach. They seem like a very happy couple. The seem about in there early twenties. This picture is telling happiness and true love to me. This picture tells a story about how true love may be possible. I do not know if that is correct or not because I can not really tell what kind of story the picture is telling.

The language i will be using in my story is Spanish. I am using this language because of the Mexican culture I am doing. I will use some spanish words in my story and these will be some of them:
Había Una Vez - Once Upon a Time, This word is important in my story because it is a different way to start off a story, and also because it is starting the Spanish, that represents the culture right away so the reader will not be confused on what type or culture this story will be told in.
Quinceañera - 15th Birthday Party, This word is important because this is the last time she had i real moment with her mother, which is mentioned in the story
Amor - Love, This is important because this is one of the things the puppy asks Melisenda to do for him in order to get what she wanted
Mejor Amigos - Best Friends, This word is important because her best friends are very important ti her in this story, they help her a lot with the decisions she needs to make and helps her take care of the puppy also.

In the story the Frog Prince it is about a princess who drops her golden ball into the pond. The frog who she later finds out is a Prince offers to get it for her if she loved him, let him live with her, let him eat from her plate and sleep upon her bed. The Princess agreed. The frog gave her her ball and she ran off. So the frog came to the princess house and the princess shut the door in his face. Her father, The King then told her she should keep her word to the frog and that she did. When she had done all the Frog asked on the fourth morning when she woke up there was not a frog laying next to her, but a beautiful prince. He then asked him for her hand in marriage and they lived happily ever after.
The Motifs in this story are the three things that the frog asked of the princess, The symbol in this story was the golden ball.
The archetypical characters, and what they are going to be changed to are
- The Frog - a Puppy
- Princess - Urban Latino Popular Teenager [ girl ]
- The King - The Girl`s Father
My Story is going to take place in East Los Angeles, California.
The motifs in my story are gong to be that the puppy asks for food, to be loved and taken care of and to an authentic mexican fiesta, then turns into her soul mate that she can never seem to find. Because she has been in bad relationships.
The Symbol is going to be the favorite ring that her mom gave her at her quinceañera, before she died.

I have chosen to the story "The Frog Prince" by The Brothers Grimm. I have chosen this story because I have recently seen the Disney remade version of the story and loved it.! I am going to do this in a Mexican culture. I have not decided where specifically in Mexico the story will take place yet. I chose Mexico because i love their culture and the way their lifestyle is.
The Things i am going to change about the story is the frog is going to be a different animal. Also where the story takes place and maybe the scenery of it all. I am excited because i have done alot of research on the Mexican culture.
